Radical Simplicity Inc. is a private consultancy business led by a mother-daughter duo who, together, build on over 40 years’ experience in the HR profession. Janice Barton

A trusted senior advisor, business consultant and executive coach, Janice is dedicated to helping people and organizations create results that matter using the principles of organization development and structural dynamics.

Over three decades, Janice built a stellar track record for innovation and performance excellence as a senior human resources executive with global food powerhouse McCain Foods, retail icon Canadian Tire and resource leader Suncor Energy. Her work in developing organizational systems and leadership capability has produced significant operational, cultural and reputational improvements and has been recognized by her peers as one of Canada’s 100 most powerful women.

Janice was among those named by Canadian Business magazine as “Most Innovative Executive” and “Best Managers in Canada”. The leadership training program she co-developed with former CEO Dale Morrison at McCain Foods is profiled in Higher Ambition: How Great Leaders Create Economic and Social Value, published by the Harvard Business Review Press, 2011.

Janice is Chair of the National Advisory Board for the Salvation Army. She holds a Master of Science degree in Organization Development from Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead School of Management in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from the University of Calgary’s Personnel Management Program.

Janice and Jim Barton live on Maple Tree Farm in Ancaster, Ontario and produce maple syrup as a hobby.

Carly Martin

Carly Martin

Carly is an experienced HR leader with a passion for developing people and teams to achieve high performance, reaffirmed through her experience that spans multiple industries, functions, and geographies.

From designing and delivering learner-centered training programs in retail, to leadership development in the construction industry, to enhancing Lean Six Sigma skills in food service, Carly’s strength and energy lies in helping to develop people. Carly’s curiosity about human behaviour drives her to deliver results through deep listening, being outcome-focused, and taking a holistic approach to organizational effectiveness.

Most recently, Carly helped to scale a start-up business in the healthcare industry to support against COVID-19 by delivering innovative HR practices and acting as a strategic partner to help the company achieve their mission, vision, and goals. Her commitment to building strong relationships with business leaders results in demonstrated effectiveness building organizational and leadership capabilities.

Carly has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of British Columbia, a Bachelor of Education from the University of Western Ontario, and a Master of Arts in Learning and Technology from Royal Roads University, with expertise in instructional design, adult learning principles, and integrating technology and learning. A lifelong learner, Carly is also pursuing her CHRL designation to further enhance her HR expertise
