Over three decades, Janice built a stellar track record for innovation and performance excellence as a senior human resources executive with global food powerhouse McCain Foods, retail icon Canadian Tire and resource leader Suncor Energy. Her work in developing organizational systems and leadership capability has produced significant operational, cultural and reputational improvements and has been recognized by her peers as one of Canada’s 100 most powerful women. Janice was among those named by Canadian Business magazine as “Most Innovative Executive” and “Best Managers in Canada”. The leadership training program she co-developed with former CEO Dale Morrison at McCain Foods is profiled in Higher Ambition: How Great Leaders Create Economic and Social Value, published by the Harvard Business Review Press, 2011.
A great believer in life-long learning Janice serves on the Board of Directors for Niagara College Foundation and is Vice-Chair of the National Advisory Board for the Salvation Army. She previously served on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Council for Learning and was instrumental in the creation of Canadian Tire University and the award-winning McCain Learning Centre.
She is a past member of the Conference Board of Canada and the Human Resources Professional Association, served on the Board of Family and Children’s Services Niagara and was a proud volunteer with Junior Achievement and the United Way.
A sought-after speaker on the subjects of leadership, culture, people development and performance, Janice has addressed numerous industry and academic forums.
Janice holds a Master of Science degree in Organization Development from Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead School of Management in Cleveland, Ohio (with international studies at KU Leuven in Belgium) and graduated from the University of Calgary’s Personnel Management Program.
